Pico Bonito National Park is one of the most impressive and diverse Protected Areas in the country. This natural gem extends over more than 107,000 hectares—the same size as 107,000 soccer fields! From a tropical rainforest, dry forest, to the tropical cloud forest at the top, where the clouds literally envelop you.

The park is a refuge for a rich variety of flora and fauna. You can find more than 440 bird species, of which the most well-known and representative are toucans, with four species, woodpeckers, the beautiful cotinga, and the magnificent quetzal. There are more than 84 species of amphibians, 35 species of fish, and a diversity of mammals such as white-tailed deer, howler monkeys, white-faced monkeys, spider monkeys, jaguars, and many more, probably unrecorded by science.

Among its natural treasures are impressive waterfalls such as Cascada Zacate and El Bejuco, which offer spectacular views and refreshing natural swimming holes.
